Ghana is located on the west coast of Africa. It is the birthplace of Kofi Annan, the former UN Secretary-General, and a major producer of cocoa beans, which is used to make the delectable chocolates you enjoy. The people are very hospitable. There are many nice places to visit in Ghana, if you are thinking of where to have your honeymoon, spend your vacation, learn about other cultures, or go for an adventure.
Let us look at some of the great places to visit in Ghana.
Nice Places to Visit in Accra, Ghana
Accra is the capital city of this wonderful country. It is a sprawling, vibrant city, buzzing with human and vehicular activity, and home to about three million people. It is one of the places to visit in Ghana, West Africa.
One nice place you can visit in Accra is either the La Beach or Coco Beach, where you can beat the heat of the city with an enjoyable swim in the Atlantic ocean whilst the golden rays of the tropical sun bathe you, and as birds cry out aloud over you in the sky.
From there, you can visit the Kwame Nkrumah Mausoleum, the final resting place of the first president of Ghana. You will have the opportunity to learn more about this great man as well as see photos he took with other great men and women, such as John. F. Kennedy, Queen Elizabeth II, Sir Alec Hume and so on.
Nice Places to Visit in Ghana's Western Region
Have you ever seen a whole village sitting on a lagoon before? Well, there is one in Ghana! This village, known as Nzulezu, is located in the Western Region of Ghana, and is one of the places to see in Ghana, Wes Africa. This exceptional, quiet fishing village is built entirely on stilts. There are no brick and mortar buildings here.
If you are adventurous, you can hire a canoe and experience the thrill of rowing to this remote village. You will enjoy the warm weather there as well as the warmth of the villagers. If you want to sleep overnight, you will be given accommodation in a stilt house. You will enjoy the peace this place has to offer.
Places to See in Kumasi
In the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom you can find Kumasi, Ghana's second city. Known as the "Garden City", it is the home of culture and tradition in Ghana. You can visit the Komfo Anokye sword, located in front of the Komfo Anokye hospital, in the center of the city.
This mystical sword was stuck in the ground by a fetish priest about 400years ago. He predicted then that the Ashanti Kingdom would collapse if that sword is pulled out of the ground. Many people have visited this sword and tried to pull it out, but the strange thing is that as you try to pull it out, it sinks deeper into the ground.
You can have a go at the sword and see whether you can pull it out. Who knows, you may be the one ordained to break up the Ashanti Kingdom!
Places to See in Tamale
Tamale is a dry, dusty town located in the Northern Region of Ghana, in the north of the country. Most of the inhabitants are farmers, and a few people engage in petty trading. You can learn about the culture of the many different tribes which coexist peacefully in this town.
You will enjoy the taste of their delicious tuozaavi, a meal prepared with sorghum powder, when you try it. You can also take a bicycle ride in the hot sun. Furthermore, you can observe smock weavers at their trade, creating beautiful, cottony smocks from cotton. You can buy one smock as a gift for your loved one.
From Tamale, you may take a trip to the Mole National Park, a world of adventure and excitement, where you can see a variety of animals, including monkeys, leopards, elephants, and hyenas. Experience the thrill of walking through the park or driving through to see some of these animals at close hand.
The Paga Crocodile Pond
Have you ever sat on a crocodile before? You can experience this when you visit the Paga crocodile Pond, located further north of Tamale. Get this once in a life-time experience. You do not need to fear that the animals will harm you. These crocodiles are sacred and so coexist peacefully with humans without harming them.

There are other nice places to visit in Ghana, such as the Ntonso craft village, the scenically-beautiful Lake Bosomtwi, the Asantehene's palace (home of the Ashanti King), and the Kakum National Park. But above all these, the warm, friendly people of Ghana look forward to your visit so that they can say to you "Akwaaba"-Welcome!
