New Vishwanath Temple is one of the most popular shrines in Varanasi. The fane is located in the premises of Banaras Hindu University.
The fane itself houses 7 temples, including Shiva temple, Durga fane, Lakshmi Narayan temple, Vishwanath fane and many others.
Another famous temple of the city is Kathwala fane known for its beautiful architecture and wood work. This one of the most
renowned temples in Varanasi was built by the King of Nepal. Its intricate wooden carving lure people from far and wide and it remains a great exemplar of authentic architecture.
Kashi Vishwanath/Golden fane of the city is also visited by numerous pilgrims. The temple dates back to 3500 years and it remains one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. This is the most visited of all pagoda in Varanasi. The tabernacle is dedicated to lord Shiva and features a Golden dome which earned it the name of the Golden Temple.
For attaining serenity along with spirituality, the Tulsi Manas tabernacle remains a must visit in Varanasi. The tabernacle is dedicated to Lord Rama. It is built using white-marble and features texts from Ramcharitramanas written on its walls. Monkey Temple is another one of the most popular shrine in Varanasi dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple earned its name due to excessive population of monkeys residing here. The tabernacle features an impressive Nagara style of architecture, which makes many jaws drop.
Apart from these, one must also visit the Bharat Mata Temple in Varanasi. The temple is dedicated to Bharat Mata and was inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in 1936. Its history and architecture add it to the list of must visit shrine in Varanasi.
Dasaswamedh Ghat is home to uncountable temples. This oldest ghat of the city remains busy with pilgrims all day long. People flock here during evening to attend the very prominent evening aarti of River Gangas. Pilgrims then leave earthen lamps in the water which is a beautiful site to experience. Assi Ghat also houses some of the most popular shrine in Varanasi. It is located on the union of the River Ganga and Assi. Numerous colourful boats can be seen around this ghat which take people on a serene boat ride on the holy waters of River Ganga. Take a boat ride after sunset and you will be awe-struck by its untouched beauty and old world charm of this city. Temples in Varanasi are perhaps the ideal places to delve into the local cultures of the place and understand the fervour of Indians towards their religion. Varanasi is surely a soul soothing city that must be visited once in a lifetime.
