However if you're a frequent flyer it's far better to use them to get a ticket or the like. Using a combination of wisdom and opportunity, you can get a lot of mileage out of your miles.
Now that everyone is up to speed, we can continue our initial train of thought. So imagine you're a couple hundred points short from getting that ticket you had been planning to get, you can't fly to accrue those miles of course - that'd just be wasting money.
